The basic rules of Backgammon

Backgammon is a table game in which two players confront each other for one reason- Wipe out the pawns from the backgammon table. The pawns are black for one player and white for the other.
Every player has 15 pawns and has to eliminate them from the table by eating them or taking them out before the opponent does it. The player moves them by throwing two dices, which determine how many spots he can move, his pawns. The goal of the game is to move the right pawns till the beginning of the table and then eliminate all the pawns from the table.

The structure of the Backgammon table

The Backgammon table is divided in two halves, each on has 12 spots in a shape of “arrows”. The spots are aligned in groups of 6, turned ones opposite to other on each side of the table.

The initial position on the backgammon table

The spots are numbered clockwise going from your right. By simplicity, the following scheme describe the player’s point of view having his house on the right and in order to obtain the position of the player in front of you, all you need is to turn the table.
Placement of the pawns:
•    Put 2 pawns of your color in spot 24
•    Put 5 pawns in spot 13
•    Put 3 in spot 8
•    Put 5 in spot 6

Your opponent will go in a symmetrical way with 2 pawns on spot 1 ( in front of you, the first on your right), 5 pawns on spot 12, 3 pawns on spot 17 and 5 pawns on spot 19.

How to move the pawns

Before the backgammon begins, you have to decide who the first to play is. Every player throws a dice and the one with the highest, starts. If the two players have the same number, they need to throw the dices again till you have different number form the other.
The player who starts has to move the pawn according to the first dice and another pawn according to the second dice..
